Designed in two distinct parts, the front of the home is more formal, its focus is inward and personal. Highly decorative inlaid timber ceilings and timber strapped walls lined with dark chocolate felt create a cocooning experience and celebrates a level of decoration associated with a 1930s home. This section’s taller ceilings, more ornate detail, and muted light, references the sensation of a period home.

Of a similar intensity to the front, the rear is defined by rawness and a saturation of the materials used. Elements of rough sawn off-form concrete capture joinery units of finely detailed pencil-thin timber dowels, expanses of brass line the benchtops, and walls and ceilings are all rendered in a fine sand putty finished render. The expression of the primary finish and inherent imperfections of the materials add a relaxed quality to these living areas.

Custom fittings and one-off furniture items are peppered throughout with custom drinks cabinet, coffee and dining tables, study desk and a suite of lighting fixtures including the brass wall sconces, Danish inspired timber pendant lights and foreboding tar like ceiling and floor lamps all combine to create a more layered, eclectic, and relaxed feel to the furniture curation.
